Automated technology is about to revolutionize the real estate industry in the UAE as Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park unveiled a traditional two-storey villa entirely built by a 3D-printing robot.
If we were to tell you robots are going to take our jobs years ago, chances are you would take it with a pinch of salt, but it turns out Artificial Intelligence and automation are heading to the extent to which a robot can make you a cup of coffee, clean your living room, prepare a meal and now, build your home too.

Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park, in collaboration with CyBe and Middle East Engineering Technologies, built a 3D-printed house taking inspiration from Emirati design and boasts of two storeys. The best part, it took only two weeks to complete the construction.

It’s worth mentioning Dubai plays host to the world’s largest 3D-printed two-floor building situated in Al Warsan 4, with 640 square meters of space and a height of 9.5 metres. Built by Dubai Municipality, the construction was predominantly performed by a robot, except foundation, insulation, roof and windows.
3D printing is paving the way for the future of construction in Dubai, as the emirate recently inaugurated the Museum of the Future, also build by 3D printing technology, as well as introducing the world’s first fully functional 3D printed building located near Emirates Towers in 2016, covering up 250 square metres.
“We see this project as a case study that will benefit regulators as well as research and development centres at the regional and international levels on real application of 3D printing technology. We are documenting this experience and building on it to take advantage of the most important lessons, which will serve as reference points to take this technology to new levels.”
