Scores of Abu Dhabi residents woke up to the noise of a blast as three buildings worth of 144 floors were demolished in a controlled implosion by master developer Modon Properties.
Since 2007, Al Mina Plaza remained an unfinished property gathering dust and dirt as it occupied an area in Abu Dhabi that holds high real estate value. Modon Properties, the team behind the implosion, carried out the blast in a bid to redevelop the area playing host to an all-new retail and entertainment destination.
The master developer worked in sync with a line-up of authorities, including Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Municipality, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, The National Crisis and Disasters Management Authority & National Ambulance to pursue the implosion in line with high safety measures.
Fun fact: Following the implosion, Modon Properties claimed the Guinness World Record for the ‘Tallest Building Demolished,’ with 144 floors of concrete crashing to the ground.
Modon Properties’ portfolio boasts of locally-known projects like the recently-opened Hudayriyat Leisure and Entertainment District, Baniyas North and Jubail Mangrove Park. Here’s a glimpse of what’s coming up on their website.
