It’s only fitting to say there’s no dearth of kind and honest people in the UAE, and every now and we find residents who give hope that the world is still a good place.
Noor Khan, a Pakistani bus driver working for Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) recently spotted a bag left in his bus at the end of his shift. It turns out the bag contained a whopping AED 250,00!
To give you an estimate of what’s worth AED 250,000, you could buy a top-of-the-range Mercedes G Wagon, a flashy Ferrari California or a luxurious Bentley Continental GT! If automobiles aren’t what you’re into, you could purchase a studio apartment with a lagoon view, and still save AED 60,000.
Jokes apart, Noor Khan immediately reported about the bag to his bus supervisor as they initiated a search to find the bag’s owner. To his surprise, Mr. Noor was honoured by His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, thanking him for his ethics and manners as it reaffirms commuters’ confidence to use public transportation.
Noor says his actions are “part of my core duties” and loyalty to his work “brings happiness to bus riders.”
“We pride ourselves on having employees with such great disciplines and fidelity at the RTA. This bus driver took the proper action by handing over the bag to the Buses Supervisor. This attitude fully reflects the confidence in the loyalty and honesty of the employees of our public transit means that commute hundreds of thousands of riders every day. This behaviour boosts the public confidence when using public transport means in Dubai.”His Excellency Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA
