It’s been three decades since Dubai’s former Ruler Sheikh Rashid passed away and Sheikh Mohammed fondly remembers the late Emir with a heartwarming message to mark his 30th death anniversary.
Sheikh Rashid’s 30th death anniversary
Dubai’s “founding father” and the mastermind behind Dubai’s success, His Highness Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum led the city’s development in an attempt to diversify the economy from its dependence on oil, rolling out big projects like the Jebel Ali Port, Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai Drydocks, and Port Rashid. He ruled the emirate for 32 years, from 1958 until his death in 1990. He passed away aged 78, and was succeeded by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum taking over as the Emir, followed by Sheikh Mohammed.
