In an incident straight out of a Fast and Furious race scene, a motorist in Sharjah was caught speeding at 278 km/h, and was charged with a fine, black points and vehicle impoundment.
Motorist caught speeding 278 km/h in Sharjah
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of watching a high-octane chase scene featuring turbo-charged automobiles and police cars, but things are entirely the opposite in reality. Sharjah Police revealed a motorist was recklessly driving on the Nazwa road until a radar recorded his speed at 278 km/h. That’s even more than the top speed of iconic Japanese sports cars like Toyota Supra (263 km/h), Nissan Skyline R34 (250 km/h) and Mazda Rx7 (259 km/h)!

As per Sharjah’s speeding charges, the motorist has been fined AED 3,000 for exceeding the speed limit by 80 km/h, in addition to 23 black points and a two-month-long impoundment.
Sharjah Police also revealed 274 motorists were fined for speeding at over 200 km/h this year, with fines starting from AED 2,000.
