A wave of protests surfaced the internet yesterday after a policeman in Kerala attacked a protester by pinning his body to the ground, reminiscent of the assault that killed George Floyd in the US.
Protests in Kerala over gold-smuggling case
Unless you’re in the know, Kerala Higher Education Minister K T Jaleel was involved in a gold smuggling case with 30 kgs of the precious metal flown from the UAE to Kerala under ‘diplomatic luggage,’ to be delivered to the UAE Consulate in Kerala. A National Investigation Agency investigation unravelled K T Jaleel was involved in the racket.

Protester attacked in a George Floyd-alike incident
There’s been state-wide protests in Kerala against the corruption especially by the Youth Congress opposition. One protester went at great lengths protesting in front of his vehicle until a policeman forced him down to the ground assaulting him until his vehicle passed by. The incident was received with huge outrage on the internet, comparing the attack to that of George Floyd that killed him, following the worldwide black lives matters movement.
