Motorist Killed After Truck Veers Off Due To Tyre Burst On Sharjah Road

Traffic on Sharjah’s Al Dhaid road came to a standstill yesterday afternoon after a truck collided with two vehicles in the aftermath of a tyre burst, claiming one motorist’s life and two sustained injuries.

Around 1:20 pm last afternoon, Sharjah Police were tipped about the accident and deployed a team to arrive onto the scene immediately. A preliminary investigation revealed a truck driver lost control over his vehicle after a tyre bust and veered into the opposite lane of the road, colliding into two vehicles. One motorist was killed on the spot and two motorists sustained minor injuries. The trio were rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment.

Sharjah Police advises car-owners and motorists to frequently check their vehicle’s tyres notably its air pressure, get their cars checked and drive cautiously on the road.

This Sunday, motorists are encouraged to drive safely with a line-up of measures in time for their annual campaign, ‘Day Without Accidents.’

Taking the pledge is as simple as giving way to emergency vehicles, giving way to pedestrians, leaving a safe distance from the vehicle in front, buckling up the seat belt, keeping away from using your phone while driving and respecting the speed limit.
