Dubai Cop Refuses AED 70,000 Bribe, Gets Promotion By Police Department

A policeman from the Al Raffa Station in Bur Dubai is earning praise for refusing a bribe worth more than AED 70,000, and was has been rewarded with a promotion.

Sergeant Raed Qaid Abdulrahim was approached by a wanted cybercriminal offering him AED 50,000, a luxury car, and a monthly payment of AED 20,000 in a bid to get him out of jail. The officer reported his case to the Public Funds Prosecution and was offered a promotion for integrity and honesty by Dubai Police.

“The promotion serves as a badge of honour on my chest and an incentive for all my colleagues and me to exert more effort, dedication and sincerity to work.”
