Following the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) announcement of hosting the 2020 edition in the UAE, they’ve announced the tournament will take place from 19th September till 10th November.
New IPL dates
International cricket is gradually making a comeback, thanks to the England vs West Indies test series last month and the ongoing England vs Ireland One Day International (ODI) series in the UK. A series of new rules and strict regulations have been imposed to contain the spread of Coronavirus and while the number of cases are still high in India, the IPL Governing Council has been in talks with the Emirates Cricket Board to host the tournament once again, after the success of hosting the first half of the 2014 edition.
While the Governing Council awaits approvals from the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities, the IPL announced its brief timeline, with the inaugural match played on Saturday, 19th September and the finals on Tuesday, 10th November. All the matches will be hosted at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Dubai Cricket Stadium and the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
They’ve also announced the Woman’s T20 challenge making a return for another edition, played during the IPL playoffs week.
