A line-up of high profile personalities, from Barack Obama to Elon Musk, Kanye West, Joe Biden and Jeff Bezos’ have fallen prey to hackers part of a bitcoin scam.
Obama, Musk, Biden, West and Bezos fall victim to bitcoin scam on Twitter
It is unclear how hackers managed to take control of their Twitter accounts, but the victims’ shared posts of a bitcoin scheme inviting followers to invest at least $1,000 and they’re money will be doubled and receive double the amount.

Sounds reminiscent of the infamous Phir Hera Pheri scene, doesn’t it!
Alongside former US President Barack Obama, some of the top-tier names involved were Tesla CEO Elon Musk, rapper Kanye West, former US Vice President Joe Biden, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.

Some news outlets claim the scheme raised a whopping $100,00 within hours after the tweets were published.

Twitter Support ‘investigating and taking steps to fix it’
Most of the victims’ Twitter accounts have been ‘locked’ as of now, except Jeff Bezos. The social networking site’s troubleshooting counterpart, Twitter Support tweeted they’ve “taken significant steps to limit access to internal systems and tools,” and have “limited functionality for a much larger group of accounts” as their investigation continues.

Meanwhile, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey tweeted feeling “terrible” about the scam and says his team is “diagnosing” and will share updates of their investigation once they “have a more complete understanding of exactly what happened.”
