A former UAE Consulate In Kerala employee, Sarith has been involved in a gold-smuggling case after a 30 kgs of gold was unravelled in a diplomatic luggage at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport.
Gold smuggle involving former UAE Consulate In Kerala staff
Reports by Indian news outlets and Gulf News claim that Sarith ordered a number of parcels to the UAE Consulate in Kerala even after being laid off. One of them was the 30 kgs of gold packed in diplomatic baggage and was opened up at the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport. Sarith was immediately taken under custody and he confessed his wrongdoings, mentioning he worked with a woman who was recently laid off by a state government’s IT department to get the bag in India. He was offered a commission of INR 1.5 million (AED 74k).

It’s worth mentioning the gold is worth a whopping AED 7.4 million, an equivalent of buying a luxurious 13,000 sq ft signature villa at Palm Jumeirah.
