Receiving an employment termination letter and being laid off isn’t something anyone who’s recently lost his/her job would want to remember in these turbulent times, but two photographers in Dubai are doing their bit to help the unemployed improve their resume by offering free portrait shoots.
Free portraits for the unemployed
It’s tough to admit but competition for jobs has been more fierce than ever, and a lot of corporates are on the search for work to survive through the Coronavirus pandemic. Job seeking is not an easy task as it used to be before, knocking on doors or calling offices in the search for vacancies. It’s transitioned into having a professional presence on the internet, such as having a video resume, an all star-level LinkedIn account and a wealth of work experience, achievements and educational qualifications to flaunt online.

Given the state of the ongoing crisis, with massive lay-offs and suspensions, the future is unshielded for a lot of working professionals and university graduates. In a bid to boost their impression online, two Dubai-based photographers, Ales Vyslouzil and Tara Atkinson joined forces to embark on a venture, ‘Project: Impression Session DXB,’ offering complimentary portrait shoots for those unemployed. They’ve teamed up with Hotcold Studio in Al Quoz as the venue.
“Most of my business is done on LinkedIn and a lot of people do go by first impressions. The better your picture is (expression, lighting, background) it tells your audience that you not only made an effort, but you invested in yourself, which is a quality that employers are looking for these days”Ales Vyslouzil
If you’re on the hunt for a job and looking for a high-resolution image for your LinkedIn profile, drop them an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. It’s a 20 minute-long photoshoot and either one of the duo will do the photoshoot, offering three images with retouching.
They also advise corporates to select an attire that’s of a darker colour to avoid distraction, must be ironed and a good fit. Candidates are also welcome to bring a hairbrush, hair spray and powder if they wish to.
