While most movie theatres contemplate opening in the midst of Coronavirus, Vox Cinemas are taking film-going experiences one notch further by introducing a drive-in cinema at Mall of the Emirates.
Drive-in cinemas at Mall of the Emirates
Rumours swirled across social media last week with photos of Mall of the Emirates revamping its roof-level parking, well here’s some great news following up on the rumours. Vox Cinemas built a drive-in cinema and is ready to welcome film-goers starting this Sunday, 17th May.
In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the cinema chain ensures staff maintain social distancing and follow safety measures.
Watch movies while inside your car
Every evening, the pop-up cinema will host film screenings wherein guests park their cars on an allotted space and must tune to a designated radio frequency for the movie audio.
Each ticket costs Dhs 180 exclusive of VAT for each car, allowing a maximum of two people. The package includes meals like caramel and salt popcorn, nachos, M&M’s, soft beverages and water.
“With the gradual easing of restrictions on people’s movement, it’s the perfect opportunity for people to safely enjoy the big screen experience again with a family member.”
Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim – Cinemas
First-day sales proceedings go to ‘10 Million Meals’ campaign
In line with Sheikh Mohammed’s ‘10 Million Meals’ initiative, Vox Cinemas are making a generous move by donating sales from the first day sales to the campaign.
Social distancing measures enforced
A total of 75 vehicles are allowed every screening, prohibiting kids aged under 12 and senior residents aged 60 and above. Head to their website for more details.
