Rescue teams from Ras Al Khaimah’s Civil Defence and Police force worked in sync to rescue two trekkers stranded in the high-altitude trails of Jebel Jais.
Two trekkers stranded at Jebel Jais
There’s no easy way around hiking over the mountains of Jebel Jais especially during night-time, but two UAE-based European residents ventured out on the trail and found themselves stranded in the midst of the track, alerting Ras Al Khaimah authorities for help. The duo are believed to be siblings
RAK Police and Civil Defence to the rescue
At 7:10 pm, one sibling called RAK Police alerting them about her missing brother. Pandemics from the Civil Defence, National Ambulance teams and the police force rushed to the mountain and took two and a half hours to find him in safe condition.
Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi from RAK Police says the siblings were escorted to the National Ambulance for a medical check-up, and were keeping well. Despite poor visibility due to lack of light, Al Zaabi was in praise of the rescue teams being well-equipped to handle the emergency and warns trekkers to avoid going on hikes during hot weather.
Residents are also urged to “abide by the assigned route at rough mountainous areas.”
