Doctors, nurses and hospital staff at the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City gathered to cheer for nine-year-old Hervie Emmanuel Magos, after recovering from the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The UAE’s youngest Coronavirus patient
Exactly one month ago, on 22nd March, nine-year-old Filipino child Hervie Emmanuel Magos was admitted to the Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, and was transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) the following day, spending 29 days battling against the outbreak and celebrated his ninth birthday in his ward. At last, on 21st April, little Hervie tested negative for Coronavirus and was given the green light to return home.
Celebrations galore for Hervie’s release
Hervie’s release from the hospital was received with claps, praises and all-smiles by Sheikh Khalifa Medical City staff as they celebrated his birthday. The UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Anwar Gargash shared the video with a heartfelt message of the medical workers “celebrating life.”
490 new Coronavirus cases in the UAE
Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) confirmed 490 new patients diagnosed with the outbreak and three deaths, taking the tally to 7,755 and the death toll to 46. On the brighter side, MOHAP announced 83 recovery cases, raising the total to 1.443.
Sheikh Mohammed in praise of front-line workers
In support of healthcare staff working relentlessly in the wake of rising Coronavirus cases, UAE Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum hosted select front-line workers on a video conference to thank them for their efforts, and shared a touching message in praise of their work. He says:
“Today, you are setting the most wonderful examples of sacrifice, and everyone will learn from you about the meanings of giving, humanity and responsibility. We commend every second of the efforts and energies that you dedicate to the safety of citizens and residents, as well as your awareness of the dangers that you are facing every day to ensure our safety and the protection of our country.”HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
