Volunteers distribute 500,000 free meals in Dubai
Thousands of people are staying indoors in Deira’s high-density areas in the wake of strict quarantine measures enforced by the authorities, and one of the biggest growing concerns has been putting food on the table. Thanks to Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, a staggering 500,000 meals were distributed in the busy districts to support the people.
That’s even enough meals to feed the entire population of countries like Iceland, Barbados, Malta and Seychelles!
‘Your City Needs You’ campaign initiative
Unless you’re in the know, Dubai Crown Prince His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum recently rolled out the ‘Your City Needs You’ initiative through the ‘Day For Dubai’ app, calling upon citizens and residents to dedicate a minimum of one day every year to volunteering. 12,300 volunteers signed up for the initiative, leading the movement by distributing 500,00 free meals.

10 million meals to be distributed this Ramadan
Just in time for the holy month of Ramadan, Emir of Dubai and UAE Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced a country-wide campaign to feed nearly the entire nation, giving away 10 million meals! The initiative will be led by led by Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, and overlooked by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. Anyone who wishes to make a contribution to the charity must head to their website, www.10millionmeals.ae.
