As the world mourns to the death of Kobe Bryant, Burj Khalifa paid tribute to the basketball icon by lighting up its facade displaying a heartwarming image of him and his daughter, Gianna.

Having played for LA Lakers for two decades, Kobe emerged through the years winning five NBA championships, claiming a former MVP (Most Valued Player) accolade and is the fourth highest all-time regular season scorer. Simply put, he’s regarded as one of the greatest Basketball players and athletes of our time.
Fatal helicopter crash
Bryant, who runs a sports training establishment over his nickname, ‘Mamba Sports Academy’, was headed for the venue in California with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, baseball coach John Altobelli and five other passengers in a helicopter before the tragic crash. It’s also reported the chopper wasn’t equipped with a terrain awareness and warning system.

Last weekend, Burj Khalifa lit up displaying an illustration of the Bryant and Gianna. The light show was organized by Ahmed Bin Sulayem, the Executive Chairman of Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, who once hosted the 41-year-old in Dubai, in 2013.
