Stranded Indian Worker In The UAE Returns Home After Losing His Job

47-year-old carpenter Rakesh Kumar returned to India safely after being stranded in the UAE for eight months, thanks to the Indian Consulate in Dubai.

Rakesh Kumar worked as a carpenter for a company in Sharjah for two years, since 2016, until the business shut down in 2018 and his employer was unable to pay him his pending salaries. Unable to afford a living in the emirate, the 47-year-old had to leave his labour accommodation and struggled to enjoy basic needs.

Indian Consulate in Dubai helps worker return to India

It wasn’t until the Indian Association of Sharjah spotted Kumar on the roads and reported his case to the Indian Consulate in Dubai. According to Khaleej Times, the ministration approached him, assisted in getting his clearance documents to fly back to his hometown, Lucknow, and offered flight tickets.
